Are you tired of giving so much of yourself that it hurts? Are you ready to be in a loving and balanced relationship? If so, you may be ready to join us on our journey --leaving behind the woman who loves too much to become the woman who loves powerfully! A self-help group is now forming for women whose relationships, up to now, have often been destructive. Reflecting on the wisdom of Robin Norwood, renowned author of Women Who Love Too Much, we will journey to an understanding that “when being in love means being in pain, we are loving too much…” Together we will come to understand why loving hurts so much, to examine the patterns in the relationships that have not been fulfilling and to determine what we can do to improve them. Come together to laugh and cry, to share with others who understand and to support each other as we take steps to love ourselves more and in turn discover that beauty of relationships that are balanced and mutually satisfying. This group is guaranteed to be unlike anything you’ve experienced before. Are you ready to become a woman who loves powerfully? Don’t wait another minute... Group Leader: Tameaka Shelton.
1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m. -- 9:00p.m. Begining October 6, 2010 Fee: $ 25, first session free. Mid-life is a time of metaphoric change and transition, no longer young but not yet old. Changes in this phase of life can include occupational challenges, including job loss and downward mobility, changing family relations, including separation and/or divorce from a spouse, serious illness, aging parents, and children leaving home. For the first time we are closer to the end of this life then the beginning. We face issues of loss and the reality of our own mortality from a new perspective. This is a time of reflection on paths taken and those not; a time of questioning anew the meaning and purpose of our lives. This group will provide a supportive community of women to re-connect with your inner wisdom, weaving together past and present with a desired future. Using themes from “The Queen’s Cloak: A Myth for Mid-Life,” participants will engage in an examination of their individual needs and desires for the second half of life and clarify the steps and resources necessary to achieve them. Together, we will weave our magic cloaks. Group Leader: Stephanie King, LCSW-C, ACSW |
